DFT Regional Schemes.
Health Education England working across Yorkshire and the Humber organises 8 schemes for Dental Foundation trainees within the region of Sheffield, Doncaster, Harrogate, Dewsbury, Barnsley Wakefield and York. The longitudinal scheme covers the Yorkshire and Humber area.
The DFTDCT (Longitudinal) Scheme is a unique combination of Secondary care Hospital posts and Primary care Dental Practice posts, alternated in the one educational programme over a 2 year period. It brings with it many challenges but also synergies, to produce a very well rounded and experienced Clinician, prepared for the future challenges and developments in dental care.
The Programme Director for the LDFT scheme is Jason Atkinson who has a wealth of experience in General Practice, as an experienced TPD and an innovator in educational thinking and application.

Tony's philosophy is to help trainees achieve their best and challenge them to become thinking dentists for the 21st Century.
"With Foundation Training, you will get out of it what you put into it personally and professionally. I have been very proud to have been involved long enough to see foundation dentists who have come through their training here in Yorkshire and have gone on to establish great professional careers elsewhere in the UK."
