Esther McDerra

newimage_159x202.jpgEsther is a Specialist in Paediatric Dentistry based in the Salaried Dental Service working for Local Community Partnerships, a Community Interest Company Social Enterprise and is also a Clinical Tutor in Paediatric Dentistry for undergraduate and postgraduate students at Leeds Dental Institute.  She has been a Dental Tutor for ten years and was appointed Major Events Tutor in 2007.

"Major Event courses were introduced by the Deanery in 2007 and were designed to embrace the whole dental team. Initially they included the compulsory “core” subjects such as Disinfection & Decontamination and Radiography & Radiation Protection but have expanded to include topical subjects like Child Protection, Professionalism and Clinical Update courses. The concept of Major Event Courses is to attract high profile speakers to make even the most compulsory of subjects appealing to the whole dental team! Consequently we have held courses in large venues such as the West Yorkshire Playhouse and the Royal Armouries, used actors to illustrate real life scenarios and even interactive quiz systems for instant audience participation. Our programme is ever evolving – and we welcome your feedback and suggestions, so that we can deliver CPD that leads to a direct improvement to the quality of patient care."
